BizOS by business type
BizOS is one app, but the parts that matter differ by trade. This page is the shortcut: for your kind of business, what to switch on, in what order, and which problem it removes.
Electricians
The problem: enquiries arrive on WhatsApp and die there; material used on site is never billed; payments trail for weeks.
Set up
Leads for enquiries, jobs with your own stages (Site visit → Material pending → Work in progress → Done), and items & stock for wire, MCBs and fittings.
The one that pays for itself
Materials on the job. What the technician adds on site is a job line, so what was used is what gets billed.
First automations
Chase overdue bills; nudge quotes not accepted in two days; remind the lead owner when a lead has been idle.
Also worth it
Equipment: who took the core cutter or the megger, for which job, and whether it came back.
Plumbers and general repair
The problem: many small jobs, mostly cash, and no record of what was collected until the money is short at the end of the week.
- Jobs on the technician’s phone, with the customer’s site, a timer, photos and the customer’s sign-off.
- The cash drawer under Payments: how much cash each person holds, until they hand it in.
- Expenses tagged to a job for fuel and material.
- Customer updates on WhatsApp when a job is scheduled, started and completed.
AC, RO and appliance service (AMC businesses)
The problem: the AMC is the profitable product and it expires silently, and planning four visits a year for two hundred customers by hand is impossible.
This is the trade contracts were built for
Build an AMC package, such as “12 months of RO care” with a filter change every three months. Sell it once, and every service visit and its job are created for the whole term. Reminders reach the technician and the customer before each visit, and renewal reminders go out before expiry.
Then add journeys to move one-time buyers toward an AMC as they buy filters, and post-job feedback so a low rating reaches you first.
Retail shops and counter businesses
The problem: billing has to take seconds, and stock has to be roughly right without anybody running a warehouse.
- The Rapid billing layout with a barcode scanner, and the 80 mm thermal design for the counter printer. See Speed & offline.
- Offline billing in the web app, so a dropped connection never stops a sale.
- Rates typed including GST, so the price on the tag is the price on the bill.
- Low stock and reorder lists sent to suppliers on WhatsApp.
- Expenses and the day book at closing.
Multi-branch retail
The problem: two or three shops, each with its own counter, stock and bill book, and the owner cannot see them together.
- Branches (an add-on set up by BizOS support): each branch prints its own address and brand, numbers its own bills and keeps its own stock.
- Stock transfers between branches on a challan, in transit until received.
- Staff limited to their branch; the owner switches between branches or sees all of them.
- Other GSTINs for branches in another state, with GSTR-1 per GSTIN.
Distributors and wholesalers
The problem: orders come in by phone, are supplied in parts, each party pays a different rate, and dues are spread across dozens of retailers.
- Price lists with quantity bands, so each customer’s rate appears by itself; pin a different level on one bill for a bulk order.
- Sales orders: take the order, collect an advance, bill it in parts as you supply, and see what is still pending.
- Delivery challans the retailer confirms from a link, with who paid for the trip recorded.
- Receivables ageing and per-customer dues as the daily list; payment links so a retailer can pay by UPI from the bill.
- Tally kept in step for your CA.
Interior, fabrication and printing firms
The problem: long quotes priced by size, advances before work starts, and billing in stages.
- Measurements: length × breadth works out the square feet on the line (flex, flooring, glass, aluminium), or running feet and perimeter for frames and wiring.
- Quotations with line images, and approval for large quotes made by office staff.
- Sales orders with an advance, billed in parts as the work progresses; or jobs billed from their lines.
- Proforma invoices with their own series for clients who file against a purchase order.
Tailors and boutiques
The problem: every order has its own sizes, written on paper that gets lost.
- Measurements that record and print sizes on the line, such as chest, waist and sleeve, while the quantity stays as typed.
- A measurement book on the customer, so their sizes are there next time.
- Sales orders with an advance at the time of order, billed on delivery.
- WhatsApp updates and journeys for festive repeat orders.
Equipment rental businesses
The problem: tools, scaffolding or tents go out, come back in parts, and deposits and late days are counted by hand.
- Equipment Rentals (an add-on): rentals with day, week or month rates and minimum days.
- Security deposits held for the rental, applied to its bills or refunded.
- A challan the customer confirms when equipment goes out, part returns, late days, damage and loss charges.
- Running monthly bills for long rentals, with no day billed twice.
Salons, studios and clinics
The problem: repeat visits are the business, and nobody remembers to bring people back.
- Customers with custom fields for what you track: last service, preferred stylist, allergies.
- Fast billing at the counter.
- Journeys and automations to send a return nudge after a set interval; campaigns for festive offers.
Repair and service centres
The problem: intake, status, and the phone ringing to ask “is it ready?”
- Jobs with stages that match your bench (Received → Diagnosed → Awaiting part → Ready → Delivered) and photos at intake.
- Customer updates on WhatsApp at the stages that matter.
- Contracts for warranty terms.
Whatever your trade: the first week
- 1
Day 1: get your customers in
Import your customer list and what each customer owes you, so payment chasing starts from the real position. On Tally, connect it instead and bring in your masters.
- 2
Day 1: send one real bill
A quote or an invoice to an actual customer on WhatsApp. Everything else makes more sense once you have seen one land.
- 3
Day 2: name your stages
Rename the job stages and lead stages to the words your team already uses, under Settings, Work setup, Pipelines and stages.
- 4
Day 3: switch on two automations
Payment reminders for overdue bills, and a thank-you when customers pay. These two cover most of the value with almost no risk.
- 5
Day 4: connect WhatsApp
With the WhatsApp Business module, connect your own number so documents and reminders go from it and replies land in the Chats inbox.
- 6
Day 5: add your team
Invite staff with the right role. A technician gets the Field technician role and opens the app to only their own jobs.
Common questions
- What is the best software for an electrician or plumbing business in India?
- Look for enquiry tracking, jobs on the technician's phone, materials billed from the job, GST invoicing and automatic payment chasing in one app, working over WhatsApp. BizOS covers all of these: leads on a board, jobs with your own stages, materials and time added on site, invoices made from the job's lines, and WhatsApp payment reminders.
- Is there software for AMC contracts for AC or RO service businesses?
- Yes. BizOS contracts handle AMC, warranty and subscription terms. Selling an AMC package creates every service visit and its job for the whole term, sends reminders before visits, and sends renewal reminders before expiry. It needs the Jobs & Field Service module.
- Can a distributor take orders and bill them in parts with BizOS?
- Yes. With BizOS sales orders, an accepted quote becomes an order, you take an advance against it, and you make invoices from it as you supply, while BizOS shows what is still to bill. Each customer's rate comes from their price list, and delivery challans are confirmed by the customer from a link.
- Can BizOS bill by square feet or record tailoring measurements?
- Yes. A BizOS measurement profile either works the quantity out from sizes, such as length times breadth for square feet, or records sizes such as chest and waist and prints them on the line. A customer's measurements can be kept on their record for the next order.
- Is there software for an equipment or tent rental business?
- Yes. The BizOS Equipment Rentals add-on handles day, week and month rates, security deposits, a challan the customer confirms, part returns, late days, damage and loss charges, and monthly bills for long rentals.
- Can I run two or three shops in BizOS?
- Yes. With the BizOS Branches add-on, set up by BizOS support, each shop is a branch with its own address, bill numbers and stock, staff can be limited to their branch, and the owner sees them together. Separate firms can instead be separate businesses under one login.
- What should I set up first in BizOS?
- Import your customers and what they owe, send one real bill on WhatsApp, rename your stages to your own words, switch on payment reminders and a payment thank-you, connect WhatsApp, then invite your team with the right roles.
