Branches & several GSTINs

You have opened a second shop. Now the bills need the new address, the numbers need to be separate, the stock needs to be counted per shop, and the staff at Anna Nagar should not be poking around the head office's accounts — but you still want one customer list, one item catalogue and one view of the whole business. The Branches add-on does that: branches live inside one BizOS business, each with its own bills, numbers, stock and staff access, and the owner sees them all together.

Branches or a second business?

Your situationUse
Several shops, godowns or offices of one firm (one PAN), even in different statesBranches in one business
A different firm — its own PAN, its own booksA second business on the same login

Branches share customers, items and reports, so the owner sees the whole firm. Separate businesses share nothing but the person's login.

Getting the add-on

Branches is a separate add-on (it needs Billing and is in no bundle). While it is being piloted with a handful of businesses, it is set up by BizOS support: open Settings → Business → Branches & GST and use Ask BizOS support. It includes one branch besides the head office; ask support for room for more. It has no 14-day trial and is not part of the early-access “everything on”. See Plans & pricing.

If the add-on lapses, nothing is locked: existing branches keep selling, printing and numbering, and you can always archive one. Only opening a new branch stops.

How do I add a branch?

  1. 1

    Open Branches & GST

Settings → Business → Branches & GST (Owner or Admin). The head office is already listed.

  2. 2

    Add branch

Give it a code of 2–4 letters or digits (it starts every number, such as ANR/INV-0001, and cannot change later) and a name.

  3. 3

    Fill in what it prints

An optional brand for its bills, its address, PIN code, phone, email and Google review link. If the business has other GSTINs, pick the GST registration it trades under.

  4. 4

    Optional: price level and Razorpay

Pick a price level for bills made here, and add the branch’s own Razorpay key if its payment links should settle into its own account.

  5. 5

    Set its numbers and look

Numbers sets the prefix and next number of each series; Logo & pad uploads the branch’s own logo, signature and letterhead scan.

  6. 6

    Say who works there

Settings → Business → Team & roles → Works at: every branch, or only some, and where their new work lands.

Archiving a branch stops new work there; its bills, stock history and reports stay, and Reopen brings it back.

What does a branch print on its bills?

  • Its brand as the headline, with the business's legal name on the next line — a brand never prints alone.
  • Its own address, phone and email (the business's when it has none).
  • The business's PAN, and the GSTIN it trades under.
  • The business's registered address as Regd. office.
  • Its own logo, signature and letterhead scan, preferred over the business's.

An issued invoice, receipt or challan keeps the seller details it was issued with, so editing a branch later never rewrites old bills. WhatsApp messages can use {{branch.name}}, {{branch.phone}} and similar variables, filled from the branch of the record the message is about.

Numbering per branch

Each branch has its own series for every document kind, starting <CODE>/<SHORT>- (ANR/INV-0001, ANR/SO-0001). Numbers stay unique across the whole business, and a prefix that could print another series' number is refused. A prefix can change at any time and applies from the next number. The head office keeps its own series. See Document numbering.

Which branch is a new bill at?

A record made from another keeps its source's branch — an invoice from a quote, a payment on an invoice, a credit note on a bill. Anything else lands at the branch the member picked on the form (the Branch picker appears only when they can choose between two or more open branches), else their own branch, else the head office. A document's branch is fixed once it is created. Imports and system-created records land at the head office.

Stock per branch

  • Each branch has its own stock location. A bill, credit note or job moves stock at its branch; a manual stock-in or adjustment lands at a location of a branch the member works at. Negative-stock checks apply per location, so one branch cannot sell another's shelf.
  • The item page shows stock by branch (quantities only, never cost), and the items list, low-stock list and stock value count the branch you are looking at.
  • A branch can have its own reorder level per item; otherwise the item's level applies.
  • Open sales orders commit stock at their branch, and a short order points to the branch that has the stock.

More than one location inside a branch needs Stock Plus. See Inventory.

How do I send stock to another branch?

Items & stock → Transfers → New transfer: pick where it goes, the items, and optionally the transporter, vehicle and e-way bill number, then Dispatch. The goods leave the sending shelf and sit in transit until the receiving branch records what arrived — in one go or in parts. A transfer that ends short is closed as returned or written off.

A cross-GSTIN transfer appears in the sending GSTIN's GSTR-1 as a B2B invoice and as a purchase in the receiving GSTIN's accounting export, but never in sales totals or dues. BizOS shows a hint when a dispatched consignment is worth ₹50,000 or more without an e-way bill number; it does not file the e-way bill. New transfers are made on the web; the mobile app dispatches, receives and shares the challan.

Several GSTINs under one PAN

A branch in another state needs its own GST registration, and you may hold several in one state. Add them under Branches & GST → GST registrations (the same PAN only — a different PAN is a separate business), then pick one on each branch. A branch's registration is fixed once it has issued a GST document. Money received under one GSTIN is not applied to a bill under another.

  • GSTR-1 is prepared per GSTIN: pick the GSTIN on the GSTR-1 card. See GST billing.
  • Tally XML and Zoho exports are made per GSTIN ("Books of").
  • Tally sync can keep each GSTIN in its own Tally company, or several GSTINs in one company. See Tally.

Branch-limited staff and the branch switcher

The Owner or an Admin sets Works at for each member: every branch, or only some, plus where their new work lands. A branch-limited member sees, changes and totals only those branches — invoices, quotes, payments, jobs, leads, expenses, cash, reports and the dashboard. Customers are shared, so they can still find and bill any customer. Whole-business screens such as GSTR-1, accounting exports and campaigns are not open to them. Quote approvals and delivery confirmations go only to people who work at that branch.

Anyone who sees two or more branches gets a branch switcher in the header, on the web and in the mobile app. It narrows every screen to one branch — a view, never extra access.

Prices, targets, payments and leads per branch

WhatHow it works
Price levelBills and quotes made at a branch price from its level. A customer's own level, or one picked on the document, still wins. See Price lists.
Monthly sales targetA rupee target per branch per month, carried forward until changed, measured as net billed sales before GST. Set in Branches & GST → Sales targets; shown beside Reports → Branch comparison.
Own Razorpay accountPayment links for the branch's bills settle into its account. Secrets are stored encrypted and never shown back. Leave it empty to use the business's account.
Lead sourcesEach lead integration can land its leads at a branch (Settings → Connections & AI → Lead sources → Leads land at). Justdial leads can also be routed by the branch's PIN code.
API keysA key can be tied to one branch; it then reads and creates only that branch's records. See API & webhooks.

Comparing branches

Reports → Branch Comparison shows, per branch you can see: sales billed, number of bills, collected, still owed, expenses and jobs done. It is listed only for a business with branches.

What branches do not do

  • No WhatsApp number per branch. The business keeps one number and one inbox.
  • No per-branch item cost. Each item has one weighted-average cost across the business.
  • No credit note on a cross-GSTIN transfer for goods sent back; such a transfer closes short as written off.
  • Settings → Branches & GST is web-only. The mobile app has the switcher, pickers, Works at and the comparison report.

Common questions

Can BizOS handle billing for multiple shops?
Yes. With the Branches add-on, each shop is a branch inside one BizOS business: it prints its own address and brand, numbers its own bills, holds its own stock and can have its own staff, while customers, items and reports stay shared.
Can each branch have its own invoice series in BizOS?
Yes. Every BizOS branch numbers each document kind from its own series, such as ANR/INV-0001, and numbers stay unique across the whole business. The head office keeps its own series.
Can one business have two GSTINs in BizOS?
Yes, under the same PAN. Add the other GST registrations in Branches & GST and pick one per branch. BizOS prints that GSTIN on the branch's bills, splits GST by its state, and prepares GSTR-1 and accounting exports per GSTIN.
How do I transfer stock between branches in BizOS?
Make a transfer under Items & stock → Transfers and dispatch it. The goods sit in transit until the receiving branch records them. Between branches on the same GSTIN it goes on a delivery challan; between two GSTINs it is a tax invoice from its own series.
Can I stop branch staff seeing other branches in BizOS?
Yes. The Owner or an Admin sets Works at for each member. A branch-limited member sees, edits and counts only their branches' records, and their new work lands at their branch. The Owner and Admins always see every branch.
Should I use branches or a second business in BizOS?
Use branches for outlets of one firm with one PAN, even across states. Use a second business for a separate firm with its own PAN and books; one BizOS login can switch between several businesses, but they share nothing.
Does each branch get its own WhatsApp number?
No. A BizOS business keeps one WhatsApp number and one inbox for all its branches. Messages can still name the branch through branch variables such as the branch name and phone.
How do I get the Branches add-on?
Branches is a BizOS add-on in no bundle, currently set up by BizOS support while it is piloted. Open Settings → Business → Branches & GST and choose Ask BizOS support. It includes one branch besides the head office.
