Notifications & push
“Did the payment come in?” and “did my reminder actually reach the customer?” are two different questions. BizOS answers the first with notifications to you and your team: the bell in the app, plus a push to your phone and your browser. It answers the second with the message log, which records every message BizOS sent and whether it arrived.
What will BizOS notify me about?
Who receives a notice is decided by the feature that raises it and by the person's role, so a field technician is not told about money they cannot see. Under Settings → You → Notifications every member sees a table of the events they can tune, with a column per channel:
| Event | Channels you can choose | On by default |
|---|---|---|
| Payment received | In-app, push, WhatsApp, email | In-app, push, WhatsApp |
| Invoice overdue | In-app, push, WhatsApp, email | In-app, push, WhatsApp |
| Follow-up due today | In-app, push | In-app, push |
| Quotation follow-up | In-app, push, WhatsApp, email | In-app, push, WhatsApp |
| Quote approval needed | In-app, push, WhatsApp | In-app, push, WhatsApp |
| Daily Brief | In-app, push, WhatsApp | In-app, push, WhatsApp |
| Assistant replied, scheduled ask answered, WhatsApp reply drafted | In-app, push | In-app, push |
| Report ready, audit export ready, accounting export ready | In-app only | In-app |
Other notices, such as a delivery assigned to you, equipment overdue or a WhatsApp template approved or rejected, arrive in the bell and push the same way. Export-ready notices stay in the app on purpose: the download page lives on the web, so a phone buzz would have nowhere to open.
Your choices never change what a colleague receives, and they never affect messages to customers.
How do I get notifications on my computer?
- 1
Open your notification settings
In the BizOS web app, go to Settings, then You, then Notifications. The card at the top is called Where notifications reach you.
- 2
Click Enable notifications
Click Enable notifications on the This browser row. Your browser then asks for permission; choose Allow.
- 3
Check the status line
The row now reads This browser will show notifications, and the browser appears under Registered devices.
- 4
Repeat on each computer
Notifications are turned on per browser. Do the same on every computer and browser where you want them.
If the row says the browser is blocking notifications, the permission was refused earlier. Browsers only ask once, so allow notifications for the BizOS site in your browser's own site settings and reload the page. Turn off on the same row stops this browser without touching your phone.
Once allowed, BizOS quietly renews the browser's subscription each time you open the app, so notifications do not stop working because a subscription expired.
How do I get notifications on my phone?
Sign in to the BizOS mobile app and allow notifications when it asks. The phone then appears under Registered devices as “Android app” or “iPhone / iPad app”. A push belongs to one business, so it reaches the devices you have registered for that business. Reinstalling the app does not make the same push arrive twice, and a phone that has uninstalled the app is removed from the list automatically.
Why did I not get a notification?
Start at Registered devices. If it is empty, BizOS had nowhere to push. That push is recorded as Skipped rather than sent, so an owner or admin can see exactly what happened in the message log. The usual causes:
- No phone signed in to the app and no browser turned on.
- You switched push off for that event in your own notification table.
- The browser blocks notifications for the BizOS site.
- The notice was for a record your role cannot open, so it was never addressed to you.
Owners and admins also get a Send test button per event, which sends a test notification to themselves on the chosen channel even if they have opted out.
The message log
Settings → Customer messages → Message log (owners and admins) lists every message BizOS has sent, to customers and to your team:
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Channel | WhatsApp, SMS, email, push or in-app |
| Recipient | The customer, lead or team member, and the number or address used |
| Template | Which message was sent |
| Status | Queued, sent, delivered, read, failed or skipped |
| Failure reason | The provider's own words when something went wrong |
Filter by channel and status to answer the two questions people ask: did my reminder go out? and what is failing? WhatsApp delivered and read ticks come from Meta's own receipts, not from an assumption.
Skipped is not failed
Skipped means BizOS chose not to send: the customer opted out of WhatsApp by replying STOP, the recipient has no number or address on that channel, or a push had no device to go to. Failed means a provider refused it, for example a rejected template or a number that is not on WhatsApp.
Does BizOS message customers at night?
Not from automation. Anything a workflow would send between 21:00 and 09:00 IST waits until 09:00 the next morning. Messages you send by hand go out immediately.
Common questions
- Does BizOS send push notifications?
- Yes. Every BizOS in-app notification is also pushed to each phone with the BizOS app signed in and to each browser where the person clicked Enable notifications under Settings, You, Notifications.
- Can I get BizOS notifications on my laptop?
- Yes. In the BizOS web app open Settings, You, Notifications and click Enable notifications, then allow it when the browser asks. BizOS never asks for this permission on its own when a page loads.
- Why did I not get a BizOS notification on my phone?
- Check Registered devices under Settings, You, Notifications. If no phone or browser is listed, BizOS had nowhere to send it and recorded the push as skipped. Also check that push is switched on for that event in your own notification table.
- My browser says notifications are blocked for BizOS. What do I do?
- Browsers only ask once. Allow notifications for the BizOS site in your browser's site settings, reload the page, and the Enable notifications button works again.
- Can I turn off BizOS notifications for myself without affecting my team?
- Yes. BizOS notification choices are per person and per event. Turning off push for Payment received changes only what reaches you, and never changes messages sent to customers.
- How do I know whether my customer received the invoice on WhatsApp?
- The BizOS message log records sent, delivered and read for each WhatsApp message, using Meta's delivery receipts. Owners and admins find it under Settings, Customer messages, Message log.
- What does skipped mean in the BizOS message log?
- Skipped means BizOS deliberately did not send: the customer had opted out, there was no number or address for that channel, or a push had no registered device. Failed means a provider rejected the message.
