BizOS on your phone
You are rarely at a desk when the work happens. A customer pays at the counter, a technician finishes on a rooftop, a lead calls while you are at a supplier. The BizOS phone app lets the office bill, collect and follow up from anywhere, and gives field technicians a small app of their own that shows only the jobs they are on. Both views use the same live data as the web app.
Which view will I see?
The app decides from the member's role, not from a setting you choose. A role that sees the whole business gets the office view. A role limited to assigned work gets the field view. Of the six fixed roles, only Field technician is limited this way; an extra role made by BizOS support with the same limit gets the field view too.
| Office view | Field view | |
|---|---|---|
| Who | Owner, Admin, Manager, Accountant, Office staff | Field technician |
| Tabs | Invoices, Jobs, Ask BizOS, Dashboard, More | Jobs, Deliveries, Me |
| Opens on | Invoices for members who bill, Dashboard for everyone else | Jobs |
| Customers | Full customer list (under More) | Only the customer of a job they are on |
| Money | As the role allows | Only what the role allows; amounts it may not see are removed by the server |
If a member's role changes, or they switch to another business where they hold a different role, the app moves them to the right view by itself.
What can the office do from the phone?
The office view is built for running the day away from the desk:
- Invoices tab — invoices, quotations and (when your business uses them) sales orders, each opened from one tab. New invoices and quotes open a full-screen composer.
- Jobs — the jobs board with your own stages, crews and assignees.
- Ask BizOS — type, record a voice note or photograph a bill, and Ask BizOS does the work.
- Dashboard — today's picture: what came in, what is due, who to chase.
- More — customers, payments, expenses, cash in hand, leads, follow-ups, the daily Brief, items and stock, equipment, deliveries, reports, and common settings such as billing defaults, invoice design and logo, team, WhatsApp templates and notifications.
A tile or tab the member's role cannot open is not drawn at all. Members who work at more than one branch get a branch switcher under More; everything they see then narrows to that branch.
What does a field technician see?
The field view is deliberately small. It answers three questions: what am I doing today, what am I delivering, and what is with me.
- Jobs — the jobs they crew. From a job they can call the customer, open directions, start and stop time, add materials used, take before and after photos, and mark the job complete with the customer's signature (or skip the sign-off when the customer is not there). The job's own invoice and UPI QR are reached from the job, so they can collect on site without seeing every other bill.
- Deliveries — the deliveries assigned to them. They can share the confirmation link with the customer or record the acceptance themselves, which is always labelled as staff-recorded.
- Me — notifications, a button to call the office, equipment they are holding, and, where the role allows, their leads, follow-ups, expenses, cash in hand, an item lookup and Ask BizOS.
Time tracking follows the job
The timer appears once the job is in a started stage, and only one timer can run per person per job, so a forgotten timer cannot double-count hours. Stage moves from the phone fire the same workflows and completion times as moves on the web.
How do I start using the app?
- 1
Install the app
Install BizOS from the Play Store on Android or the App Store on iPhone.
- 2
Sign in with your phone number
Enter the mobile number your business added you with and type the OTP you receive. If you belong to more than one business, pick one.
- 3
Allow notifications
Say yes when the app asks to send notifications, so payments, due follow-ups and approvals reach you even when the app is closed.
- 4
Start from your landing tab
Office members land on Invoices or the Dashboard; field technicians land on their Jobs. Your role decides which.
Billing from the phone
Invoices and quotations share one composer, so learning one teaches the other. Totals update as you type: line by line, then the order discount, then GST on the discounted amount. The server recalculates on save, so the number the customer sees is never a phone-side guess. Custom fields appear on these forms exactly as on the web, including the required ones, and measured lines (length × breadth, or a tailor's sizes) work in the composer too.
Push notifications
Signing in registers the phone for push. A notification opens the screen it is about; if the phone has no such screen, or your role may not open it, you land on your usual tab instead. What reaches you is set per event under Settings → Notifications in the app or under Settings → You → Notifications on the web. See Notifications & push.
Updates
The app updates through the store like any other app. BizOS keeps a minimum supported version: if your copy is too old to work safely with the current BizOS, the app asks you to update before going further, instead of failing mid-task. A newer version that is optional shows a reminder you can dismiss. Keeping auto-update on means you will rarely see either.
A common setup
Field technicians install the app and live on their Jobs tab. The owner uses the office view on the move and the web app at the desk, where reports, stock, chats and automation are. Everyone sees the same records, live.
Common questions
- Is there a BizOS mobile app?
- Yes. BizOS has an app for Android and iPhone. It opens an office view for members who see the whole business and a field view for field technicians, and it uses the same live data as the BizOS web app.
- Can my technicians use the BizOS app without seeing the whole business?
- Yes. A field technician gets the BizOS field view: their own jobs, their deliveries and a Me tab. They see no customer list and no sales tab, and money their role may not see is removed by the server, not just hidden on screen.
- Can I create an invoice from my phone in BizOS?
- Yes. In the BizOS office view, the Invoices tab opens a composer for invoices and quotations, including custom fields and measured lines, and payments can be recorded against bills from the phone.
- Can a technician collect payment on site with the BizOS app?
- Yes, where the role allows it. From a job in the BizOS field view the technician can open that job's invoice and its UPI QR code, so the customer can pay on the spot.
- Does the BizOS phone app work offline?
- Only for reading. The BizOS app can show records it loaded earlier, but saving a new invoice, payment or job update needs a connection. Offline billing with a sync queue is a BizOS web app feature.
- What can I not do in the BizOS phone app?
- The WhatsApp chats inbox, campaigns, AMC contracts, workflow automation, the Tally connection, buying a plan and the less common settings are on the BizOS web app only.
- Do I need a separate login for the BizOS app?
- No. The same phone number and OTP sign you in to the BizOS app and the web app. If you belong to more than one business, you pick which one after signing in.
